It is no secret that performing a post construction cleaning is a labor-intensive task, and if it is not done properly, it can cause major problems and complications. It is key for any construction company to deliver impeccably the space in which it was working, so that the customer is satisfied with the work.

The construction work does not end when the work is finished as everyone believes, because after finishing all this hard work there are certain additional works that must be done before making the final delivery of the construction or work being done. Mainly one of these works that we mention is the complete cleaning of all the facilities involved, this is called post construction cleaning.

This cleaning is not part of the work of the construction contractor, he can perform a general cleaning of debris, but the detailed cleaning must be performed by a specialized team and must be done from top to bottom. Why does it require specialized work, because it is not just sweeping the floor, cleaning carpets and other visible areas, but requires much more detail, as an example of some cleaning parameters that must be taken before delivering the work are the following:

1.      Cleaning of walls (that they are free of stains and dirt).

2.      Pressure washing and cleaning of windows and frames.

3.      Removal of plastic or stickers on furniture, windows and doors.

4.      Wet and dry dusting of ceilings, lights, fans, heaters, etc., as well as appliances.

These are just some of the aspects to take into account when cleaning a construction site, however, this is a process that should not be taken lightly, there are different phases, which must be followed in order and to the letter in order to deliver this space impeccably, these phases are as follows:

Phase 1: The first phase of cleaning is done once the electrical, plumbing and carpentry installations have been done. It is called rough cleaning since large and heavy construction items such as debris, garbage, leftover materials from the construction site and general items that cannot be vacuumed or swept must be removed. After all this debris has been removed, the entire site is swept or vacuumed and then the walls, doors or windows are removed, but not cleaned, of glue residue.

Phase 2: The second phase is called light cleaning, although this does not mean that it is the phase with less work, in fact, it is considered that this phase is the one that takes the most work, since it requires a large amount of equipment and cleaning tools. Special attention is given to the cleaning of bathrooms and kitchens, since during this phase, elements such as sinks, toilets, windows, cabinets, among others, are cleaned in depth.

With the light cleaning, we ensure that the construction is in optimal conditions of cleanliness and especially for the internal areas of the work, such as air ducts and hard to reach and inconspicuous places, and this is where the total cleaning of the glue that was left as leftover on doors, windows and walls is done.

This phase is one of the main reasons why a professional cleaning service should be hired for a construction project.

Phase 3: This third phase is called final cleaning or touch-up. This is done several days after the light cleaning, this because the dust and dirt present in the work tends to settle with the passage of time. By allowing a few days to pass after the second phase, the cleaning team will have an easier time cleaning the dust residues left from the two previous phases. This phase in particular takes little time, since this is where attention is paid to details such as stains, fingerprints and other imperfections that were missed in the rough and light cleaning phases.

For these and many other reasons it is advisable to hire expert and professional cleaning personnel such as K&C to carry out these jobs, since they must be done in the best way so that the work is left in excellent condition and condition and so that the final delivery to the client can be carried out successfully. This is a job that must be done with great caution since it can represent consequences for the health and hygiene of the client.
